Kolektor Among the Partners Behind Slovenia’s Most Powerful AI Center
18. 06. 2026
At the Faculty of Computer and Information Science of the University of Ljubljana, the high-performance data center FRIDA has been launched—a new supercomputing infrastructure designed for the development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data processing. Among the companies collaborating with the faculty on research and development projects is Kolektor.
Launch of FRIDA – Dr. Tomaž Boh, Directorate for Science and Innovation, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation (MIZM); Prof. Dr. Gregor Dolinar, Vice-Rector of the University of Ljubljana; Mr. Valter Leban, President of the Management Board
At the opening event, Valter Leban, President of the Management Board of the Kolektor Group, participated in a panel discussion on strengthening cooperation between science and industry. He emphasized that companies cannot independently develop all the knowledge and competencies they need, and that partnerships with research institutions are essential for successful innovation. He also highlighted the strong cooperation between Kolektor and the Faculty of Computer and Information Science (FRI UL), describing it with the words: “At FRI, I always feel ‘free’ because I know I will find answers to my ‘why’ here.”
FRIDA is currently the most powerful computing center for artificial intelligence in Slovenia. Equipped with the latest generation of NVIDIA Blackwell graphics processing units, it will enable researchers and companies to accelerate the development, testing, and deployment of advanced AI solutions.
The new infrastructure represents an important step in strengthening collaboration between research expertise and industry, while creating new opportunities for the development of technologically advanced solutions—an area in which Kolektor is already actively engaged through its cooperation with academia.
