Maj Kristan shares his path into physics and engineering with students
19. 10. 2026
Maj Kristan, a systems engineer at Kolektor Mobility with a master’s degree in physics, shared his educational and career journey with students at Gimnazija Jurija Vege Idrija, encouraging them to follow their interests when deciding on their future.
On 14 October, Kristan returned to his former secondary school. At the KAMbi pa ti? event, he joined mechanical engineer Nuša Bremec and metallurgical and materials engineer Gregor Hvala in sharing their experiences of university study and their careers with the students.
A desire to understand the world led Kristan to study physics. “I love nature, and physics seeks to describe its laws in simple terms and through equations,” he said. Today, he applies the knowledge and way of thinking he developed during his studies to his work as a systems engineer at Kolektor Mobility.
The event was held as part of the national Inženirke in inženirji bomo! (We Will Be Engineers!) project, which has been introducing young people to careers in engineering, technology and the natural sciences since 2012. The project brings together more than 70 organisations, and its events have reached more than 9,300 young people to date.
At the end of the event, Kristan encouraged the students to trust their own interests and aspirations: “If you keep trying, you will find your way.” By taking part in events like this, Kolektor helps young people explore engineering careers and gives them the chance to hear first-hand accounts of working in modern industry.
