Examples of the direct drive application

Direktni pogoniThe in-wheel direct drive is an innovative, compact and ecological construction of the drive system with the motor, electronics, and the brake integrated in the wheel itself. The power of motor is transmitted directly onto the wheel without any reduction of speed whatsoever, which does; however; require high torque at low speed and a wide range of operation. All this is given in the brushless motor with permanent magnets and a 3-D magnetic field with stator core of soft-magnetic material enabling high number of poles and a simple coil in a relatively small volume.

The in-wheel direct drive is suitable for all types of electric vehicles
of lower speed range, such as:

Direktni pogoni
  • commercial and industrial mobile cleaning machines;
  • industrial and airport logistic vehicles;
  • mobile platforms;
  • electric vehicles (for golf, smaller city electric cars, etc.);
  • other smaller electric vehicles.

Technical characteristics

  • Nominal torque: 24V, 36V, 48V
  • Nominal torque: 110Nm at 100rpm
  • Max torque: 230Nm
  • Power: 1 – 3kW (depending on voltage and winding)
  • Efficiency: above 0,80
  • Brake capacity: 120Nm

External dimensions

  • External motor dia: 241mm
  • External dia of the entire wheel incl. pneumatic: 300mm
  • Width: 191mm

Advantages

  • High torque on wheels already in idle position and low speed as well as in a wide range of operation (in practice this means high drawing force of the vehicle in the very start of acceleration as well as better slope starting)
  • Reduced volume of the drive system
  • Elimination of the power transmitting and speed reducing mechanical parts
  • High efficiency of the drive system as a whole under different speed modes – proven to be one of the key factors in increasing the autonomy of the vehicle
  • Better reliability of the system and lower maintenance costs tanks to elimination of the wear-prone parts
  • Precision and repeatability of controlling
